Knowing yourself is so important that I would say that it is first essential and effective step you can make towards managing time. With so many pressures coming at you everywhere you turn life has become a bit overwhelming don’t you think? Time control gets out of our focus pretty quickly and we find it difficult to find out what is happening to us as we spin around with life’s challenges and changes.
So before you can really begin to look at managing your time the first thing you need to ask yourself is what in the world do you want to get out of life? I know this is a huge question, but in there is the key to actually doing what matters to you. Some would call this visioning but really it is a bigger picture of your life. If you just look at yourself on a minute by minute look you will not see the bigger scope of what is going on and what you really want.
Can you remember when you were a young adult when everything and anything was possible? The possibilities were endless. How did that vision look then? Are the same things that were important to you then important to you now? Have you lost sight of that and need to be reminded? That grand vision of saving the world back then might have been a bit huge but again there are clues in there at that time of your life that are clues to what your vision is today, it just might look a little different.
This might take a bit of work but start a three ring binder to start collecting your thoughts with me will you? As we go through this month I will give you an assignment to write in that binder. When you get done with writing you will have so many clues and wonderful thoughts that it will hold and your vision will become clearer and clearer. It will be like putting a puzzle together piece by piece until the whole picture comes in view.
Here is your assignment:
Get a three ring binder, paper and your favorite pen. You always want to work writing it yourself as it becomes more personal that way. It fires up a whole different part of your brain that is the creative side and not the mechanical side. Another story another day……
Look up the word vision in the dictionary and see what Webster says. That could be your first writing at the top of the page. Then write what your vision actually is for your life.
Ask yourself “What IF” my life were exactly as I want it, what would it be. Write away till you run out of things to write. And until next TIME.
