Andy Stanley said in his book “The Best Question Ever” that “Time is the irreducible minimum of life. When you boil life down to its basic components, time is your core commodity. You can run out of money, you can run out of opportunities, and you can run out of luck. But when you run out of time, your life is over”. I totally agree that time is something we should use better and making good decisions is a big part of how we use it.
But what about The Time Bandit, do you know him? Sorry guys someone has to be the villain. He robs me of my most precious time like my sleep, a dinner out with my Husband, the great deal that I was working on for my business, or my private time with my Lord. He comes and takes seconds, minutes, and hours, sometimes days and then even years.
That Time Bandit will do most anything to get me off track. But wait a minute, that Time Bandit is really ME. Oh now that is a sick thought. I am the one that takes the minutes and hours doing something that I wasn’t planning on doing. I am the one that dabbles reading emails that spider web me all over the internet instead of writing my book that I wanted to do today. Dang, it is me that is the Time Bandit.
Let’s go back to Andy’s book where he says that “time is life” and think about that for a minute. If I am taking time from myself and time is my life then I really am deciding how my life is going to turn out. So I can choose to make good decisions or to let the time bandit win, and unfortunately it is really up to me. Take some time today and see where your Time Bandit robs you of some of your precious time and life.
