Have you ever had days where you woke up and you just didn’t know where to begin because everything just seems so overwhelming? If you are running your own business, then I’m pretty sure you have had days like this. When you do not have clear set goals then you will find yourself in this situation more often than not. Do you often feel like you are running around in circles all day yet feel like you’re getting nothing done? Maybe it’s because you are putting all your time and energy into the wrong areas. If you are not clear on what your goals are then how can you move forward?
What many people don’t realize is that your goals can change over time so you need to reevaluate your goals every few months. So, even if you have set goals before, how long has it been since you have reevaluated them? I like to sit down every 4 months and go over my goals, what ones have I achieved, what ones do I still want to work on and which ones do I need to get rid of or change a bit to fit my life as it is at the moment.
If you don’t have any current goals, I highly suggest you get started today. You should develop goals in these 6 areas of life:
1. Family and Home
4. Physical and Health
6. Mental and Educational
Setting goals in each area of life will ensure a more balanced life as you begin to examine and change the fundamentals of everyday living. Start with number one, what is one thing you really would like to achieve in this area? What do you want this area of your life to look like? If your goal seems too large, don’t worry about it because you will be breaking it down into small workable chunks. You want to be sure you write out each goal in as much detail as possible. Actually, the more detail you have the better. You are giving your subconscious mind a very detailed set of instructions to work on. The more information you give it, the clearer then final outcome will become. The more precise the outcome, the more efficient the subconscious mind can become.
Make sure the goal you are working for is something you really want, not just something that sounds good. When setting goals it is very important to remember that your goals must be consistent with your values. If you end up writing down what you think you “should” be doing or what you think others think you should do, you will find your life very unfulfilling. If you make your goals line up with your values you will find that you thoroughly enjoy working on your goals and that you look forward to each new day.
